nutrient initiative
The overarching goal of the Nutrient Initiative is to more fully engage the College of Agricultural Sciences and Penn State in research, education, and outreach to address water quality problem related to environmental nutrients in Pennsylvania and beyond. We envision the initiative as an innovative partnership between Penn State, the state legislature, state and federal agencies, communities, industry, environmental organizations in which Penn State’s role is to provide research, and education, and to facilitate stakeholder engagement essential to crafting successful strategies.

- Greater success in addressing long-standing water quality problems in the region
- A new model of engaging the academic community in environmental problem-solving
- Greater integration of water research and education across departments and colleges within Penn State University
- New multi-disciplinary collaborations in research, education, and outreach within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Penn State University
