The mission of the Biomass Energy Center is to coordinate and facilitate research and outreach across the university, building teams to address the complete value chain of biomass energy systems. - environmental markets and incentives
The goals of the environmental markets and incentives initiative are two fold. We seek to advance the science of environmental markets and incentives so that the can effectively serve their dual goals of achieving environmental objectives while minimizing social compliance costs. We also seek to provide education and outreach on the use of markets and incentives to decision makers with information on the design and use of markets and incentives. - nutrient initiative
The overarching goal of the Nutrient Initiative is to more fully engage the College of Agricultural Sciences and Penn State in research, education, and outreach to address water quality problems related to nutrients in Pennsylvania and beyond. - sustainable ag working group
The PSU Sustainable Ag Working Group (PSU-SAWG) is a multi-disciplinary initiative that brings together interested Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences faculty, staff and students, farmers, and representatives from the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), Pennsylvania Certified Organic (PCO), and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. - transitional zone ecosystem initiative
The Transitional Zone Ecosystem Initiative seeks to enhance knowledge discovery and translation of the complex dynamics of transitional zone landscapes and ecosystems in the face of often rapid and spatially-concentrated human population growth and the sustained pressure of human-induced development.
